There are several reasons why you may want to visit Canada as a visitor. It can be for family reasons, for business or simply for tourism. Depending on the case, Safe Keeping Immigration will take you through the whole process of obtaining the prerequisites to enter Canada.

You will probably need:

  • A visitor visa, also known as a temporary resident visa. The length of time you are allowed to stay is usually six months.
  • An Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to enter Canada and
  • A work permit.

In other words, you may need a visitor's visa, or rather an ETA. This depends for example on :

  • The type of travel document you intend to travel with
  • The country that issued your travel document
  • Your nationality
  • The means of transportation you are using to come to Canada on that trip.

Those who meet the following requirements may apply for a visitor's visa:

  • Have a valid travel document, such as a passport;
  • Be in good health
  • Have not been convicted of criminal activities or immigration offences;
  • Convince an immigration officer that you will return to your country of residence because of ties you have there, such as employment, property, financial assets or family;
  • Convince an immigration officer that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay;
  • Have enough money for your stay (the amount needed will depend on how long you stay and will vary depending on whether you are staying in a hotel or with friends or relatives).

You may be required to undergo a medical examination or have a letter of invitation from a person living in Canada.
For minor children, you should make sure you know what to do depending on whether your minor child is travelling alone, with you or with someone else.
